First signs of spring

The first signs of spring.. sigh, the promise of warmer weather. I had planned a lovely outing for us as soon as I found out we were going to have a 25 degree day. We started off with a little hike to Sherbrooke falls. We sweated it out a bit and then headed off to Alfred Nichol Gardens for a picnic. I always have my picnic basket handy in the boot of my car (in case of an emergency picnic of course . Since I didn't have heaps of time to pack a picnic we stopped at a cafe and picked up a few delicious treats. The gardens were lovely, flowers blooming everywhere. My favourite parts of the gardens were the Japanese bridges. What a great way to spend an afternoon, lying around in the sun reading.
Here in Melbourne, spring, it sneaks up on you, gives you hope of warmer days to come, and then just as you think we are nearly there, bang back to winter-ish weather! Cold and rainy outside today only 2 weeks after these lovely pictures were taken.
